Mining cab Wirtgen WÖLFLE INSIDE!

Open-surface miners are gigantic cutters that break minerals out of the rock. These real giants circle deep in the outback and work 24/7 in the extraction of raw materials. But what if one of these vehicles crashes or overturns? To protect the driver, a 400t ROPS (Roll Over Protective Structure) became mandatory for the driver's cab. Due to this regulation, which must be complied with immediately, the development of the ROPS structure made the time factor the biggest project hurdle. The test bench had to be specially modified for the acceptance of the ROPS test.

Wölfle developed and produced a first prototype within 4 months, which passed the ROPS test with flying colours. Series production was started in parallel, so our customer was able to equip the new devices directly in the installation area, as well as retrofitting the existing open surface miners in the field immediately. Thanks to the high level of customer satisfaction, we are currently developing the next generation.
