From the first idea to the perfect solution Product development process – the common path to success
The product development process encompasses the processes within our company, from initial inquiry to market launch, and is presented here in a brief overview. Our task is not simply to develop solutions, but rather a dynamic process in which the experience from many projects is combined and in which our customers are intensively involved. The customer creates a requirements description that they define for the new product to be developed. Based on this description, the customer summarizes the objectives and expectations for the product, either directly or through consultations and workshops with us as a service provider, and then creates the specifications or a requirements catalog. These documents define the project scope. In pre-development, we draw on existing product concepts and ideas and evaluate the required technologies and processes. Implementation begins with analytical pre-design, the result of which is the preparation of a proposal and subsequently also enables a summary of the design goals in a specifications document. After the proposal is approved, series development begins.
First, the project team is appointed to manage the entire development process. Based on the project scope, the subsystems are defined, followed by detailed process planning with resource allocation. Design is carried out based on 3D CAD models, enabling computer-aided simulations and optimizations even before the prototype phase. Increasing product complexity, modularization, and digitalization, combined with rising software requirements, require extensive experience as well as creative problem-solving skills such as agile working methods, simulation technology, and rapid prototyping. By networking our interdisciplinary development teams, we solve all mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software requirements in-house and, as a one-stop shop, offer a customer-specific and future-oriented complete solution.
In the prototype phase, the first parts are available for hands-on use. This is where the design and functionality are tested, and any necessary adjustments are made. This phase is a progressive process that culminates in the finished product concept. In a pre-production and qualification phase, the product is tested and qualified according to the specifications for the intended application environment before series production. In parallel, the production concept is developed, and production planning and supplier qualification are carried out.
At the end of this phase, series production can begin, and a successful market launch is ensured smoothly thanks to the time- and cost-efficient implementation based on this structured process.
With our "From design start to spare part" approach, we offer competent support for our entire portfolio through our aftermarket division, as well as product- and customer-related services throughout the entire product life cycle.
