This is binding for all manufacturers of such machinery. EN ISO 13849-1 is the new Europe-wide standard for the safety of machinery and their safety-related parts.
The machine manufacturer is also obligated to carry out a risk and hazard analysis of its components. In this way, potential risks that may arise when operating the machines can be determined and classified into a risk level. A corresponding Performance Level (PL) according to EN ISO 13849-1 for the control or its parts can then be derived from this classification.
