Following requests from trade associations, the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been revised to include specifications for preventing accidents at work. The changes to the Machinery Directive mean that mobile work machinery is now subject to these latest requirements too.
Safety engineering for vehicles
All machine functions must be monitored to ensure they remain in a safe state, and developed with this aim in mind as well. In short, every executable machine function is monitored electronically to this end in order to determine whether the function has been carried out by an operator or the machine is working of its own accord.
In the latter case, the module prevents the function from being executed, resulting in an unintended malfunction. The first system of this nature was realised for a global market leader in accordance with ISO 13849 PL d.
